Yeah, this passage is pretty counter-cultural isn't it? Your mention of Rom 12:3 is helpful. I totally agree, that rarely is "low self-esteem" the issue. I'm not sure we can think of ourselves as lowly as is reality. Of course, "ourselves" reflects our Adamic person and not our position in Christ. We should rejoice that we at least get the privilege of holding the treasure. I read an awesome statement from Ezra this morning, "What has happened to us is a result of our evil deeds and our great guilt, and yet, our God, you have punished us less than our sins have deserved and have given us a remnant like this. Shall we again break your commands . . .?" (Ezra 9:13-14). Good reminder.

Actually, I'm working on getting my spiritual arms around the death-to-enemies of Psalms and the Golden Rule of the NT. But, my poorly maide point was you're praying the Word back to God while David, et al, wrote down their prayers to God and it became the Word. The circle is complete.

All that and you don't have a tape worm? That's what I was expecting as a reason. And why not? Missionary in deepest, darkest Africa writing several paragraphs about weight loss. What to think, what to think? Glad for you, but I've enjoyed nearly every morsel that went into my condition.

Whatever, Kristen:) Dan, I really like your missionary miracle diet, but I would have to hope the results aren't typical if I tried it because I would be down to 135 pounds, which I haven't weighed since I was 16. Seriously, we would love to come try it for a few weeks if we could visit you sometime. James and Laura
