What is Συγκακοπαθησον?

Συγκακοπαθησον is the Greek word found in 2Tim 2:3, when Paul encouraged Timothy to "endure hardness (or hardship) as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. It is also used of Moses in Hebrews 11:25 when he is said to have chosen to "suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin" in Egypt.
If we are true Christians, each of us has some sort of hardship or affliction to endure for the gospel, for Jesus promised that in the world we will experience trouble - it's not a question, it's a guarantee. The difficulties we face are different for each person, but the situation always seems hard when we're the one facing the affliction. Paul was in prison, when he wrote to Timothy who was likely pastoring a church. Both were in different, but difficult situations.
So in short, Συγκακοπαθησον is a word of encouragement for true Christians. Whatever your hardship or affliction, bear up under it for the sake of the gospel.
